Playing Poker Isn't Just for Professionals You Know

To win at poker, you don’t have to own a degree as was recently proved by a young lad called Joe Cada. Joe had already dropped out of University by the age of 21, so it would have seemed impossible to earn anywhere near a million dollars! He has proved to everybody that it isn’t always necessary to spend time studying at university to win at poker. He is the youngest player in history to win this tournament. The World Series of Poker reached its peak with him winning with a pre-flop. It was Cada’s first time attempt at the tournament and it is a game he will never ever forget. When discussing his final hand bet he said that he was too frightened to look so he had his back turned and hoped that it would all work out for the best

Joe has been playing poker with his friends from a very young age and he has been waiting for the magical day he turned 21 so that he could compete. As the championship was in America, the age restriction was set at 21 as the minimum age to take part. The tournament had him competing against 6500 people and it was quite normal for players to sit down and play 12-hour sessions in a single stretch. The length of the tournament was a staggering ten days.

Cada certainly had quite a ride during his ten days of play. The roller coaster that was his play had him with the most chips of any player at the beginning and by the 8th day he was getting so low that he was worried he may have been about to be knocked out. However, somehow he managed to battle his way back. His mum is based in Detroit where she is a blackjack dealer, so maybe cards run in the family. As a casino dealer, she was concerned that her son may be heading down a difficult path having seen the ups and downs that poker players go through, but she stood by him all through the tournament and was there to celebrate with him as he took the title.
